Stephen Houston, Head Roaster at Bailies Coffee Roasters based in Belfast is heading to Boston next week to represent Ireland in the World Coffee Championships.
Back in January, Stephen had to fend off tough competition from across Ireland to win the ‘Irish Brewers Cup 2019’. He’ll now make his way to Boston taking on over 40 competitors from across the world. Stephen will take to the stage for four days of fierce competition from 11-14 April at the Boston World Coffee Championships, in a bid to win the ‘World Brewers Cup’.
The World Brewers Cup competition highlights the craft of filter coffee brewing by hand, promoting manual coffee brewing and service excellence. In this Championship, competitors prepare and serve three individual beverages for a panel of judges.
Speaking before he travels to Boston, Stephen said: “I was delighted to be the winner of the 2019 Irish Brewers Cup which allows me to represent Ireland on the World stage as part of the World Coffee Championships in Boston.”
“I’ve a passion for coffee and have loved working as Head Roaster at Bailies Coffee in Belfast for the past 5 years. I know that we punch above our weight in terms of the quality and our dedication to how we roast our coffee. I’m determined to prove that Ireland has the best brewer of coffee in the world!”
Stephen has been training hard, putting in countless hours and working late nights to perfect the best brew of coffee, supported by the team at Bailies Coffee.
