Course Description
An entry level course perfect for anyone who loves coffee, or who is thinking about becoming a barista. Developed by Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) as part of their Coffee Skills Program and delivered by our highly qualified Authorised SCA Trainers (ASTs), this training course focuses on the key skills needed to make a great espresso and cappuccino, while also exploring where coffee comes from, what makes a good barista and also how the equipment works and is kept clean.
Learners have the option to take the course with or without SCA certification.
Those taking the course WITHOUT certification will receive a certificate of completion from Bailies Coffee Roasters.
Those taking the course WITH SCA certification will undergo an online written test and a short practical skills test and will receive a certificate from SCA upon successful completion of their evaluation, while also earning 5 points towards the SCA Coffee Skills Diploma.
All learners will receive a Bailies tote and a bag of coffee.

- Introduction to coffee beans - where it comes from, how it's processed and the different varieties used
- Grinder & machine set up
- Espresso preparation
- Steam, texturise & pour milk
- Tips on barista best practice
- Cleaning procedures
