Kamwangi Coffee Factory is one of three coffee factories run by New Ngariama Cooperative Society based in Kirinyaga County. Located on the slopes of Mount Kenya the area itself is world renowned for its amazing coffee quality.
What is Peaberry?
The Peaberry seed is the result of a mutation which occurs in a cherry where, instead of two seeds naturally developing, one ovule fails to pollinate resulting in only one seed.
As the seed grows without having to share nutrients with another, it is then considered to have a superior profile with bright acidity, sweetness and complex flavours.
PROCESS
Cherries are hand sorted before the pulp is removed and the coffee is fermented under close shade. After fermentation, the coffees are washed and then taken to drying tables to be sun dried over 12-20 days depending on weather conditions.

We love this bright lovely coffee, it’s consistently good every single time :)
The kamwangi microlot is my favourite coffee. Not sure of difference with PB and other variety. I actually stayed in kamwangi area in 1991 for a few nights which is quite a coincidence as it is not a tourist area at all
