We're excited to be able offer the opportunity to join our growing team here at Bailies Coffee Roasters as a Roasting & Production Operative. 

Our Roasting & Production teams are the heart of what we do at Bailies, working in our roastery and warehouse to; prepare, roast, pack and ship our coffee and products to customers across the UK and Ireland.


About the Role

Within the role of a Roasting & Production Operative, you will be responsible for assisting in our daily coffee roasting process, as well as being an integral part of our production team to fulfill coffee orders.

Working under the guidance of our Senior Roasters, Quality Control Team, and our Senior Production Team, you will be able to receive training and experience in using roasting equipment, monitoring the roasting process, ensuring quality consistency throughout both the roasting process and the production chain, packing and fulfilling orders.

This role is ideal for individuals who have a keen interest in coffee, but who are also passionate about production processes, and are keen to develop more skills in this area.

As a Roasting Operative, you will divide your time between the roasting team and our production team, reporting to the Operations Manager. This role will develop with a view to moving into productions and operations management as the business grows. If successful, we will provide full training for all elements of this role.


Role Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the role;

  • Roast all Bailies Coffee product on multiple coffee roasters including but not limited to; loading green coffee, unloading coffee from roasters and carrying out frequent quality control checks.
  • Operate coffee roasting equipment using appropriate health and safety protocols and procedures. Keep the right settings for coffee machinery and equipment when roasting and packing. Follow the procedure for pre-roast, roasting, and post-roast cool down with coffee roasters.
  • Accurate green coffee identification is essential, alongside correct loading procedures.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and skilled operation.
  • Complete general maintenance and cleaning of all roasting equipment and the roasting area.
  • Receive, store and complete stock-takes of all green coffee beans.
  • Respond to demand – ensure that green and roasted coffee stock is maintained.
