This washed Colombian coffee delivers sweet and fruity flavours alongside bright acidity typically associated with the high altitude Hulia region. In the cup taste Candy Apple, Chocolate Orange & Honey
Esmeralda farm is based in the high altitude region of Hulia. Huilian coffee is one of, if not the most recognised regional coffees in Colombia, known for its consistency. The coffee is characterised by its sweetness, acidity and intensity of aromas. This coffee is no different, showcasing high acidity with sweetness in a beautiful end cup.
Carefully owned & managed by Libardo Piedrahita for the past 20 years. La Esmeralda is part of the Cadefihulia co-op, currently with 3,950 members in total.
The coffee is selected by hand and transported to washing stations where the cherries are pulped and placed into fermentation tanks for 12-18 hours.
After fermentation, the mucilage covering the beans is washed away and the parchment beans are slowly dried. The coffee is then prepared for export.
