Since 2016, Bailies have been purchasing coffees from the farm run by third generation farmer Rogelio Aguirre Escobar Jr. Rogelio’s coffees have been featured amongst our Microlot collections for many years at Bailies; with varietals such as Bourbon, Pacamara and Geisha.

El Limonar is the smaller area of land that was part of a larger farm, El Injerto before this was split in two by Rogelio Jr’s grandfather to share between his two sons – one of whom is Rogelio Jr’s father.

When Rogelio first planted Pacamara on his own farm he experienced incredible success with his harvests, especially when processing it naturally. When he turned his hand to planting and growing Geishas, within several years he found himself able to provide the same, if not higher quality Geishas than his successful Pacamara varietals.

Both varietals are excellently grown, nurtured and harvested before processing, but both are very different despite the similarities in how they are cared for.

This Geisha from El Limonar provides an opportunity to observe and taste how the landscape of top quality Guatemalan specialty coffee is continuing to change and excel.

We're delighted to be able to bring this incredible Geisha to you as a part of our Microlot Exclusives series.
