POST:                         Production & Warehouse Manager

HOURS:                      Full time, 40 hours per week with flexibility required around weekend and evening work.

BASE:                         Belfast.           

REPORTS TO:           General Manager

SALARY:                    £35k - £45k (Subject to experience) + Performance Related Bonus

The Role

To ensure the efficient operation of Production, Quality, Health and Safety, Logistics, Warehousing and Procurement needs of the business. To Manage and provide leadership to the operational team and to actively contribute as a member of the wider management team.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

 

People Management and Development

  • Lead and motivate your team to ensure company and individual objectives are met
  • Manage the day-to-day HR of your team including absences, sickness, holidays
  • Ensure your team are trained adequately for their daily tasks and any training needs are highlighted, actioned and followed through
  • Coach, develop and provide strong people management to support operational team leaders.
  • Undertake routine performance reviews with your team
  • Provide routine reports to management your teams’ performance

 

Stock Control & Purchasing

  • Review & manage stock levels of all manufactured, ancillary and consumable products
  • Oversee routine stock takes of all manufactured, ancillary and consumable products
  • Lead and manage weekly stock meetings to ensure that orders are placed in a timely manner
  • Oversee placement of all purchase orders
  • Manage and drive improvement of various stock KPIs such as “In stock %”
  • Liaise with and build relationships with suppliers
  • Negotiate with suppliers to get best value for money considering quality, service and cost.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure contracts and expectations are communicated and upheld.
  • Oversee daily, weekly and monthly production planning meetings
  • Manage upkeep of ERP system stock parameters using built in tools such as MRP and ROP.
  • Drive improvement of Stock Accuracy % KPI, ensuring procedures are implemented to improve performance.
  • Implement and improve company buying policy

 

Production

  • Ensure production quality standards are upheld in line with company and 3rd party accreditation standards
  • Manage 3rd party preventative maintenance of all packing, roasting and plant equipment
  • Facilitate Production team lead with necessary data to lead daily production priority meetings to ensure correct products are made at the correct time.
  • Manage and oversee utilisation of equipment and ensure that it is fit for purpose
  • Manage the Health and Safety of the Production area
  • Ensure that production staffing is adequate to meet demand
  • Ensure production Cleaning & Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) sheets are completed and any outstanding actions resolved.
  • Ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) is effectively used for all production works orders
  • Collect and analyse production data
  • Implement, drive and further develop department specific KPIs such as OEE%.

 

Warehousing & Logistics

  • Manage and oversee daily warehousing and logistics operations.
  • Ensure that warehouse staffing is adequate to meet demand
  • Oversee TSS import documentation for UK pallet receipts
  • Manage and drive improvement of On Time In Full (OTIF)
  • Lead and support the further Implementation of 5S in the area
  • Ensure warehouse equipment is routinely checked for compliance and maintained including Forklifts, Racking, Shutter Doors.
  • Liaise with and manage 3PL partners.
  • Implement procedures to ensure delivery services match customer and company expectation
  • Manage receipt and storage of all stock across 800+ pallet warehouse

 

Projects & Reporting

  • Lead and propose team specific and company-wide projects
  • To review and propose capital expenditure requirements on an ongoing basis to Senior leadership team.
  • Prepare and provide an Operations report to Senior Leadership Team as and when required.
  • Participate in Management meetings with other department managers
  • Partake in routine new product development meetings
  • Partake in routine new coffee release meetings

 

Technical & Quality

  • To lead and manage implementation and upkeep of SALSA standards
  • Ensure QMS is maintained and kept up to date
  • Ensure the food safety, legality and quality of finished goods and continually challenge and improve the system
  • To oversee completion of customer technical paperwork
  • Ensure HACCP manual is maintained and CCPs are controlled.
  • To ensure all suppliers are approved prior to use
  • To create and maintain product specifications for all finished products
  • To ensure compliance with allergen procedures
  • Ensure staff are adequately trained with regards to quality standards
  • Prepare for and lead 3rd party accreditation and customer audits as and when required.
  • Manage all quality issues and customer quality complaints.

 

Site Services

  • Manage, maintain and be point of contact for all site’s facilities to include: Security: (Fire Alarms, Intruder Alarm, CCTV, Gates & Access etc), Plumbing: (Gas Supply, Gas Heating, Water etc), Waste Collections, Grounds, Windows, Electrical, Building works etc..
  • Monitor usage of energy to drive a sustainability agenda

  • IT proficient in Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word and Outlook etc.
  • Knowledge of SALSA or similar QA certification (ISO, BRC etc)
