This coffee has been given the name 'Tejao' by the indigenous peoples of the Mazateca mountain range. 'Tejao' means 'Eagles Nest' in native Mazateco & also refers to '12'- the number of people to first settle in the area that became town of Huautla in Oaxaca. Coffee production in this area is approached with indigenous ancestory in mind; free from chemicals & growing amongst other crops & trees. The exporters, Ensembles, purchase coffee directly from smallholders & provides them with direct feedback & technical assistance in the field.
