Introducing our July Microlot release, Brazil Capim Branco Paraiso. Capim Branco was the first farm owned by the Andrade Brothers of Sao Silvestre - one of our Direct Trade partners in Brazil, with a relationship spanning almost a decade. This Paraiso lot is the second unique, experimental cultivar that we have received this year from Sao Silvestre.

The Paraiso cultivar is an artificial cross between Catuaí Amarelo IAC 30 and Timor UF UV 445-46 Hybrid that was created across multiple experiments undertaken across various coffee education and research facilities. Capim Branco farm has ideal conditions and equipment that are best suited to and beneficial for the cultivation of this species of Arabica.

Sao Silvestre

The Andrade family produces some of the Brazil’s finest coffee for more than 100 years. They initially owned Capim Branco farm in Carmo do Paranaíba and later on in late 90’s they started Sao Silvestre. Both of the farms are focused on producing really high quality coffees with meticulous crop planning and post processing methods

Process

After the varietal selection, the harvest team at Capim Branco hand-picked just the ripe cherries from this varietal. This harvest happened 10/07/2024. After harvest, the coffee cherries were transported to the raised beds to slowly dry (over the course of 18 days). Slower drying promotes greater uniformity of coffee beans.
