We're excited to be able offer the opportunity to join our growing team here at Bailies Coffee Roasters as an Assistant Accountant. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Management Accountant and the Head of Finance, the Assistant Accountant role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong accounting and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will take on a varied role, including reconciliations, journal entries, statutory returns, purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control and assistance in preparation of monthly and yearly accounts. 

Working within a small close-knit accounts team, this role is ideal for someone who possesses a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities 

You will work closely with your team members and have the opportunity to develop your skills further as your experience grows. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ownership of accounts payable function including tracking invoice approvals, matching goods received notes, posting purchase invoices, reconciling supplier statements, preparing payment runs and maintaining an efficient month end closure process. 
  • Completion of monthly bank reconciliations in a timely manner. 
  • Management of company credit cards and expense claims – ensure receipts are collected and coded correctly. 
  • Assistance with the preparation of monthly and quarterly statutory submissions including VAT returns, EC Sales list, Intrastat returns, OSS and TSS. 
  • Assistance in monthly and yearly accounts preparation including balance sheet reconciliations and journal postings. 
  • Attendance at quarterly stock takes. 
  • Reconciliation of web sales and payment gateways. 
  • Credit control - working closely with the credit controller to maintain the sales ledger. 
  • Reconciliation of intercompany accounts. 

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: 

  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance support role. 
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel. 
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent organisation and communication abilities. 
  • Proactive, responsible, and able to work independently or as part of a team. 
  • Ideally part-qualified or actively pursuing finance qualifications.
