Purpose & Commitment 

Bailies Coffee Company LTD is committed to operating responsibly and sustainably across our coffee sourcing, roasting, packaging, and distribution activities. This ESG Policy outlines our approach to managing environmental impact, supporting people throughout our supply chain, and ensuring strong governance and ethical business practices. 

As a coffee roasting company sourcing coffee directly from origin, we recognise our responsibility to contribute positively to environmental protection, social equity, and transparent governance. 

 

Scope 

This policy applies to: 

  1. All employees and directors 

  1. Key suppliers and service providers 

  1. Coffee sourcing, roasting, packaging, warehousing, and sales activities 

 

Environmental Responsibility 

We aim to minimise our environmental footprint while continually improving resource efficiency. 

Key Commitments: 

Climate & Energy 

  • Monitor and reduce energy use in roasting operations 

  • Where possible, use energy-efficient roasting equipment 

  • Explore renewable energy options as the business grows 

Waste & Packaging 

  • Reduce waste through improved production planning 

  • Prioritise recyclable, compostable, or reusable packaging materials 

  • Encourage customers to recycle packaging responsibly 

Water Use 

  • Monitor water usage in cleaning and production 

  • Implement water-saving practices where feasible 

Sourcing & Biodiversity 

  • Source coffee from producers using responsible agricultural practices 

  • Prioritise suppliers that protect soil health, biodiversity, and water resources 

 

Social Responsibility 

We are committed to fair treatment, safe working conditions, and positive social impact throughout our operations and supply chain. 

Key Commitments: 

Employee 

  • Provide safe, respectful, and inclusive working conditions 

  • Pay at least the applicable legal minimum wage 

  • Offer training and development opportunities relevant to roles 

Supply Chain & Farmers 

  • Build long-term relationships with coffee producers  

  • Support fair pricing  

  • Avoid sourcing from suppliers that engage in child labour, forced labour, or unsafe working conditions 

Community Engagement 

  • Support local communities where possible through partnerships, events, or charitable initiatives 

  • Promote consumer awareness around sustainable coffee consumption 

 

Governance & Ethics 

We operate with integrity, transparency, and accountability. 

Key Commitments: 

  • Ethical Business Conduct 

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations (UK, EU & Other) 

  • Maintain zero tolerance for bribery, corruption, or fraud 

Transparency 

  • Maintain accurate financial and operational records 

  • Communicate honestly with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders 

Risk Management 

  • Identify and manage ESG-related risks within our operations and supply chain 

  • Review this policy periodically to ensure relevance and effectiveness 

Accountability 

  • ESG responsibilities sit with senior management 

  • Progress against ESG commitments will be reviewed at least annually 

 

Monitoring & Continuous Improvement 

We commit to: 

  • Reviewing ESG performance annually 

  • Setting realistic improvement targets as the business grows 

  • Updating this policy to reflect changes in operations, regulation, or best practice 

 

Policy Review 

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if required due to significant operational changes.
