Human Rights Policy for Bailies Coffee Co. 

Bailies Coffee Co is committed to upholding human rights in all aspects of our coffee sourcing, roasting, and business operations. This policy outlines our dedication to ethical sourcing, fair labour practices, and social responsibility, ensuring respect for the rights of all individuals involved in every part of our supply chain. 

Scope 

This policy applies to all employees, suppliers, farmers, cooperatives, and other stakeholders involved in our coffee supply chain. It aligns with international human rights frameworks, including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions. 

Our Commitments 

We adhere to the following principles: 

Ethical Sourcing & Fair Trade 

  • We prioritise sourcing from farms and cooperatives that uphold ethical labor practices, paying fair wages and ensuring safe working conditions.
  • We actively support Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, and other responsible certifications where applicable.
  • We work directly with farmers and cooperatives to ensure they receive a fair price for their coffee, promoting sustainable livelihoods. 

No Child or Forced Labor 

  • We strictly prohibit child labor, forced labor, human trafficking, or any form of exploitation within our supply chain.
  • We conduct due diligence to ensure compliance with ILO Convention 138 (Minimum Age) and Convention 182 (Worst Forms of Child Labour). 

 Safe and Dignified Working Conditions 

  • We require all suppliers and partners to provide safe, healthy, and non-discriminatory working environments.
  • We do not tolerate any form of harassment, abuse, or unsafe labor conditions. 

Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination 

  • We promote gender equality and empower women in coffee-growing communities.
  • We ensure that hiring, wages, and promotions are based on merit, without discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or other personal attributes. 

Living Wages and Economic Sustainability 

  • We support farmers and workers earning at least a living wage that meets their basic needs.
  • We engage in long-term partnerships with farmers and cooperatives, fostering economic stability. 

Environmental & Community Responsibility 

  • We encourage sustainable agricultural practices that protect biodiversity, water sources, and soil health. 

Implementation & Due Diligence 

  • We are committed to conduct reviews and assessments of our supply chain to ensure compliance with our human rights commitments. 

Accountability & Continuous Improvement 

  • We continuously review and update this policy to align with evolving best practices and human rights standards.
  • We welcome feedback from stakeholders to strengthen our commitment to ethical business practices. 

Reporting Violations

Any individual who becomes aware of human rights violations within our supply chain is encouraged to report concerns confidentially. We ensure whistle blower protection and non-retaliation for those who raise legitimate concerns.
