Finca Teanzul, meaning "High Ground", is a renowned coffee estate in Guatemala's Santa Rosa region. Established in 1880 and managed by the Boppel family for four generations, the farm sits between 1,372 and 1,635 metres above sea level in a unique volcanic landscape sheltered by the Sierra Madre mountains. This exceptional terroir helps produce coffees celebrated for their complexity, sweetness and clarity.

Grown in Guatemala's Nuevo Oriente region, near the borders of Honduras and El Salvador, this coffee benefits from rich volcanic soils, high elevations and an ideal coffee-growing climate. Coffees from this region are known for their full body, vibrant acidity and aromatic complexity. This lot features the rare Java variety, originally derived from Ethiopian coffee genetics. Prized for its outstanding cup quality, disease resistance and suitability for high elevations, Java consistently delivers elegant, expressive coffees with distinctive character.

Finca Teanzul combines exceptional coffee production with a strong commitment to its community and environment. The farm provides housing, education and healthcare facilities for workers and their families, while protecting 45 hectares of pine and cypress forest and utilising natural water sources in its processing operations.

Over the years the farm has earned international acclaim through multiple Cup of Excellence awards, including winning lots in 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2011. The farm was also recognised in the Coffee of the Year (COTY) Top 10 in 2011, reflecting its long-standing reputation for producing outstanding specialty coffee.

Processing

Ripe cherries are selectively hand-picked and processed at the farm's wet mill. After depulping, the coffee undergoes a controlled fermentation for 24–48 hours before being washed with spring water and dried slowly on patios. The coffee is regularly turned to ensure even drying and optimum quality.
