Guatemala La Bella 250g Roast Date 27/01/20
Roasted for filter: Best enjoyed as a pour over, without milk, to allow the subtleties of the light roast to emerge.
Finca La Bella is highly regarded as one of the best farms in Guatemala, regularly placing in the finals of the prestigious Cup of Excellence quality competition. We've had some quality coffee in the past from farmer Teodoro, but this year around we've got a maracaturra on the cards!
A natural coffee hybrid, cultivated from both the Maragogype (Surprisingly large beans) and the Caturra varieties.
The farm is located in a rainforest region which is not typically recognized for growing exceptional coffee, between Cobán and Nuevo Oriente. Despite their difficult conditions the team at La Bella have managed to successfully produce competition-winning lot after lot.
Meticulous growing practices, farmer education, and a careful drying process have led to a quality end cup.

The picked cherries are brought to the local wet mill where they are spread out on concrete drying patios.
After 3 weeks of drying, the coffee reaches optimum moisture levels. It is then stored on the farm and shipped to the dry mill to be prepared for exportation.
